MadCityBroadband - A JOKE

I signed up for their service and cancelled it within 2 hours - almost 2 weeks later they still have my $ -
they advertised tech support until 10:00pm 7 days a week - I had 5 calls into them by 9:00 w/ NO answer. I finally got a call the next morning about 9AM by a very groggy woman saying she was returning a call.
What a Joke - you could only connect via individual machines to their network - I could not get any of the 3 different routers I own to authenticate against their network - The bandwidth seemed great so I took a shot at it - I should have known better! If it sounds too good to be true it is!

Better than dial up; that's all.

CG Communications advertises "high speed internet". Well, the speed isn't so great. The service is oversold and they run out of bandwidth. Downloads abort, websites time out, updates fail, and video (such as you tube) is not possible.
The service frequently goes out. Customer communications are slow. They never answer the phone. You must leave a message; sometimes they call back. Most of the time they don't.
The service is very poor compared to the slowest DSL connection and the price, at $50 per month, is high for the service provided.
Hopefully something better will come along.

I bought this POS and was happy for the first two weeks, solid connection and fast speed. If you would have asked me then it would be a 5. Fast forward 4 more weeks and we find that the network has changed. I am no longer connecting to the same access point even though customer service claims it's fine, it's not. When I can connect I get a strong signal with "very good" signal quality however I am not served webpages because the network fails to assign me a network address. After not signing up again for the second month on a non-renewable funding account, I was billed. I have yet to be repaid for what is borderline theft, and the technical support guy would have nothing to do with helping me resolve it. I explained to him that I cant care less about the money I WANT to pay and I want him to look at the issue. His responce is to have me click on "repair network" (no I'm not kidding) that was the extent of his knowledge on connectivity!! I bluntly explained that my roomate and I have proven that their access point is bad and is non longer allowing access, I attempted to give him the technicalities supporting this but immediatly was far over his head. We spent 2 days in technical annalysis and found that only 802.11(N) will connect, no (B) or (G)and we can also prove that our nearest access point will not assign an IP, but this is all for naught as it will require a repair on their end rather than simply sending me away to fix my laptop. It should be noted that as a holder of a degree in engineering there are quite a few operational laptops in the house and this problem was tested and confirmed on 4 of them. As of now I am still waiting for someone to tell me what has happened to my missing money, and am apparently waiting for an "advanced engineer" to get a hold of me. I am not at all hoping that the problem will be resolved due to the afformentioned issue being fully on mad city broadbands end and will require someone to actually repair it. I doubt that some owner in Atlanta really cares that they have lost this eager to pay customer.

dial up speeds

I pay for 1.5Mbps and get 0.134Mbps. This is ridiculous. If I wanted dial up speeds I'd pay 10 bucks a month for dial up instead of 38 for this crap. the technical support people don't help at all. unreliable. slow. and unhelpful. don't use qwest.
